The Ships at ScaleModelWorld 2009

Thank you to all for the compliments, but I only took the photos (well, there are four of my models too)! It is those who take their ship models to the event that need to be congratulated, since so many things can happen to damage these delicate pieces! Editing just comes with the job! I think that this works in two ways: - "Reward" those who took their models with some air time, independently of skill - not all the models displayed were top notch, but still they (the ship modelers) had guts to display them; - "Reward" those who attended the show with a Ship Only specialized view (so many things are missed over the two days) and, especially for those who, for several reasons (distance, time, money) couldn't be there in the flesh. This way I can give a little happiness, I hope, for those ship models enthusiasts! To Jan: The Falke is a really true masterpiece! Just looking at the unfinished model makes us wonder all it's potential, the needed craftsmanship to make the master and most of all, the uniqueness of this vessel in a usual scale for torpedo boats. You can talk over it with the "Father" of the Falke, Peter Platner (goldenarrow) To Guido: Consider that next year you will be there with the German Gamblers Team, with your usual stunning stand, with you models to enter the competition and if all went well on this side, we can have a couple of beers over our usual modeling discussions! Dear Rui, thank you for your kind coments about my Adler / Falke tropedoboat. mastering this piece required much mor tim and engagement than ever expected. but now its done. Unfortunatelly I couldn´t finish the Model for the Telford show. You are absoltly right with your thoughts abot the modellers presenting their work in Telford. First ,its often a big task to carry models in good condition that far.... And everybody can tell storries about some mishaps. Second, I truly love this huge amount of different styles of models all worth to be registered and looked at. And last but not least Telford is like a family gathering of shipmodellers spread all arround the world. I would need more than a week to pay everyone the attetion requiered. This worldwide friendship, for me, is the most outstandig aspect of this show. regards Peter

I see you found the scratchbuilt CVA-01 by Geoff Baker of the What If SIG . BTW I put my name down on the form for the Carrier SIG - not heard anything yet

I remember when I put my name down on SmallWarships SIG, lead by Les Brown, I was eager to hear something from them, until I got the SIG Newsletter. Having not seen the Adler/Falke in real life i can only judge it from the pictures - but from that, and trusting Ruis judgement and experience I am seriously tempted! Do you know anything about releasedata and price range ? The hull lookes like a onepiece cast - is it massive or spin casted? Cheers/Jan

Jan I perfectly share your opinion about the Adler, that's a hell of a great model Peter just did! I can promise you that if you decide to build that one online, you will have me checking hourly to see the progress And thanks for sharing Rui! Your icebreaker looks as ever so great!

Hi guys... On the Adler/Falke: I would say that the hull is one casted resin piece... With lots of parts to add on it Ask Peter or check http://www.wmm.at/ and wait for the model to be available online To Jean-Bernard and Neil Yes, the Shiraze was one of the most colorful ships on display Of course there was the 1/350 Soya on the Naval Dio competition area with even more color! Me, I liked all those fine resin ships from the age of iron (late 1890's) and I loved that Predetor kit, problem is I want a real one. Oh well it is first on my list when I win the Mega-lottery.
