Guy's I'm looking to buy the Airfix Vosper for the Military Small craft campaign and would just like your views on this kit.

Thanks for your time

Hi Luciano,

I certainly like it. Here are a couple of WIP pics:

Also saw this wee beauty at the IPMS Scots Nationals in Dundee:

I started one 10 years ago and never got a round to finishing, though it is still sitting in the cubby by my worktable along with the 48th scale Toryu twin engine Japanese fighter that is in the same status.

I didn't like the Airfix Vosper because of all the gaps I had to fill. I didn't like the 4 piece hull, and i still have a lot of trimming and shaving to do on the cabin to make it match with the deck. Maybe when I finish up my 350 scale Tco in the next couple of days I'll jump back on it and work towards finishing it up a bit.

Howdy fellas,

Is it just me or, does everything look overly ' thick '?

It's an old kit like the PT109. Very popular so as long as it sells well never gets upgraded so yea, parts are thicker the detail is nice but not up to standards like the Tamiya PT boat or the newer Sboat kits.

Thanks guy's, as I know and you have pointed out, this is a old kit but do you know if there are any AM sets to help bring it kicking and screaming up to todays standards?

I started bac to work on mine yesterday and within an hour became frustrated with it again. It's more so the directions. Each part has it's own separate number .... so in the directions there are drawings of the parts to be put on with little dotted lines as to where and then other drawn lines to show you the part numbers. Of course when you are putting on 20 or so parts in each phaze of the directions it looks like the nightmare of the early Dragon 3 in one 's trying to figure out what goes where and how it goes on. I haven't given up yet and I think I am on step #6 there are only 10 steps and #9 and #10 don't look bad....step 8 does. NOt impossible, not confusing per sea just takes forever to do a step looking and relooking as well as finding the part on the sprue and the fitting and cleanng of the part. I guess I am spoiled because on my 350 scale ships I can find the parts clean them and put them in place about 5x faster.

It is the only kit of it's kind available though so if you want a Vosper this is the only game in town
