All ...

I just wanted all of you (or, at least those of you who are interested) to know that I've written something about the plastic kits produced by Revell of PT boats and it was just posted on www.ptboatworld.com.

I think you'll find it interesting.

Thank you,

Garth

Hi Garth,

Looks like you did your homework on that one, thanks for taking the time to run that all down for us.

I have to agree with you on those .50 cal. MG twins on the Elco boat kits.

But, all in all, the old Revell PT kit is a great and reasonably inexpensive starting point if you want to have a 1/72 scale PT and it does lend itself well to kitbashing efforts.

Hi ...

Yes they do at that sir. They do at that.

Currently, I have two completed 109 kits .... one as the 171 of Squadron 10 in 1945 and the 556 of Squadron 29 with a Thunderbolt.

Right now? The man who did my 171 is doing the 174 in the Adaptor Scheme complete with the uniquely shielded 40mm on the foredeck. (My first Zebra stripe boat)

He's also redoing an old 212 kit and making it more accurate and he's even creating PE for it too ..............

Hello
having built the a 1/35th scale PT174 in adapter scheme with the 40mm on the bow's I should very much like to see the finished model once it is completed.
just love the stripes. having managed to pick up a 2nd 1/35th scale kit at a local carboot I'm in 2 minds wether to do this as another zebra stripe Oh so tempting.

Well, just to trow more gas in the fire
PT174, Zebra Camo Scheme Diorama by Shaun Symonds

I have built an old 1/72 Revell PT in Zebra guise also, but way back in 1996...

So.. I can only say: Go for it!

Garth,
I wish I had all the info you have posted a dozen years ago - excellent reference and great reviews on the available models

Cheers,
Rui

Rui,

Is that one I saw in Fine Scale Modeler a few years ago sir? If so, WOW!

My information that good? Naw ... I am sure Dr. Ross could do much better. I'm just glad and a little overwhelmed at how well that information I just posted for you guys has been received this well.

My ego/self-esteem needs it these days, ... thanks all you guys.

Just how did that kit lend itself to being back-dated to an 103 Class boat sir? Was it easy to do?

Hi Garth

As far as I know, FSM haven't published any of my models - unless they attended one of our (portuguese model) shows, which I found a little difficult
Yes, I think your material is good - very modeler oriented
After my PT Boat built, I have acquired several books, including Allied Coastal Forces (vol I and II), Alan Chung's American PT-Boats in WWII and another that I found second hand: Johnson's "PT-Boats of WWII" which would be good references when I made the Zebra boat... but then, I had more time and less money to spend in modeling/reference material

Keep up - and that's not only to help you moral up, it's because it's TRUE!

OK.

So, ... that was not your model I saw in FSM. Hmmm, come. Watson, the game's afoot. If that wasn't yours, then we've got ourselves a mystery. Hmmm.

Thank you very much for the kind words about my work. It means a lot to me to hear ...

Well, it's always in mid-April. People like Bob Cicconi, Keith Bender, Martin Quinn or Gary Klinzett could tell you about it better than me.
