White Ensign Models (www.whiteensignmodels.com) offers several versions of the Dog boats in 1/350.

Now if Revell or Italeri would be so nice as to cough one up in 1/72 scale, that would be a newsworthy event.

Thanks for the info Al but I was hoping for a bit larger scale. I agree with you Jay that would be great in 1/72. Thanks for the responce.

I thought about scratching one up once upon a time but after getting a book that had several pictures and drawings of the Fairmile D boats, I sort of decided it was a better idea to wait until one of them came up with a design, the hull shape being somewhat complex.

I have noticed in the Nov/Dec 2008 issue of Ships in Scale Magazine that Patrick Matthews' report on the St. Louis Admirals' Regatta, an RC event held yearly, includes a picture of modeler Phil Benoodts' RC Fairmile D that took a second place in Scratchbuilds as well as Skippers' Choice Awards.

It just sort of feeds my desires to have one of these boats in the collection.

Talk to Karl Kalb at MicroGlass www.microglass.net. Karl makes, IMHO, the best fiberglass hulls available and he has been tossing around the idea for a Dog boat.

Ooh-Ooh-Ooh! Way too cool, thanks Al.

That has got to be some way cool stuff and in 1/32 and other scales. I was looking hard at that 173 foot 1/96 scale PC it is only like $40. Definitely within the old budget for something custom to tinker on.

Looks like once they have the molds to work off of, copies are pretty reasonable. Now if we can figure out a way to persuade the guy to come up with a Fairmile we will all be a bunch of happy campers.
