I thought that I would share my S100 build of scratch mines with all those ywho are building the S100. I decided not to wait for the aftermarket this time and have a go at building my own to see how they might turn out, you can judge for yourself. I have allready changed many plastic parts for brass to add a little strenght anf of course looks to the boat. [img]

hey Mike

Your mines look convincingly real to me, a very fine job indeed.

The build of your s100 is very interesting, and the progress so far looks very promising.
I have a few books on schnellboote, so if you need any assistance on details, or if I can help you out with some pics or info feel free to ask.

Hi Mike,
Your mine looks great but I feel you made a mistake as far as the "spikes" are concerned. These were extendable and they would only be fully extended once the mine was in the water. After all it's contact with these spikes that makes the mine go off, so it would be a bit hazardous to have them extended already before they hit the water.....

Arjan

Thanks Arjan

To Get this sort of comment from your good self is a real boost to me as I have being looking at your fine work and aspire to get somewhere close. Yes I had spotted that mistake and have now rectified this error but thanks for spotting this and pointing it out to me. By the way it will be really tight to get three mines on each rail would it be ok to put just two on each rail.

As you will no doubt have noticed I changed the front plastic roller for brass is this acceptable in the strict moddelling terms.

Regards

Mike

Mike, anything is acceptable as long as it looks good . In reality three mines per set of rails would have been a tight fit as well (judging from pics). One of the reasons perhaps why late type boats had longer rails. Another reason might have to do with the trim of the boat . Julian remarked at a certain point that six of these mines on the stern must have had a negative impact on the trim.

Hi Arjan

Thanks for the information regarding the number of mines per rail, at least thia way I only have to build four instead of six. Just a thought about securing these to our boats, I thought about a pin underneath amd into a tube in the deck as these will have a tendency to fall off when I put the power on. Or do you have any other suggestion that I could use.

Regards
Mike

There is always a chance. At the momet, we are upgrading our production facilities, as we simply cannot handle the amount of manufacturing we are now doing.

We have plans for for mor eproduct releases soon as well. If you can supply some pics and or even better drawing/measurments etc, always happy to have a look.

Looking forward to doing some great business and modelling together.
