In this months issue of 'Warships Magazine' (available certainly here in the UK - I got mine in a WH Smith shop) there is an article about the return of HMS Sceptre for de-commissioning, which includes a number of very clear photos of the tiling on the outer hull, showing the multi-coloured apprearance of the tiles, and in some cases areas where tiles are missing.
