I have a couple of questions... does anybody have pictures of a Fletcher class destroyer firing its 5 in guns and torpedoes? I need to know if the concussion leaves a signature on the water similar to 16 in guns. Also I need to know if the torpedoes creat any smoke when fired. Thanks for the help.

Hello Eric,
My Jane's books show the 5" will have a small effect on the water if firing straight on to the target. Most time the 5's will have evaluation and have very little effect on the water.
When the torp's are launched there is a puff of smoke (small) for the launch. if you have seen when they launched depth charges they also have a small puff of smoke.
Sorry no Photo's as my scanner is having a war with my computer.
I hope this will help,
Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce. That is what I thought, but have been unable to find photos to confirm it. Thanks again.
