Hi Guys,
would anyone have a set of the instructions from an Airfix E-boat that they could scan and email please?

Thanks
Sean

Sean,

I did a review on that kit a while ago, but I did not scan the insctructions. I will do this and email you them to you. It might be later this week before I can get to it if that is OK.

That's great Jim, thanks. No rush either...

Thanks for the review also. I'm aware of the flaws and limitations on this kit, but it's one I've wanted to do for some time just to finish the set. And it is also quite unique. Should go well beside the more modern Revell S-Boot.

Cheers,
Sean

Someone else wanted them scanned, four years ago, so I have them. It's an almost 4Mb file. Would this be okay? I am only asking (Re. the size) as some hve problems with largish Emails.

Finally got started on this last night...

First, a stamp on the inside of the hull indicates the molds at least are from 1975! And I'm thinking mine must be an early kit...the moldings are very crisp with very little flash while the box was in bits, but at €12 I've got good plastic and poor cardboard rather than the other way around I've recently done other old Airfix boats and wore out a set of files. (OK, slight exageration)

Just put the hull together so far. This photo doesn't show it, but there will be no filling or sanding required at the bow and minimal along the seam between upper & lower hull. (Lower hull can be omitted if doing a water-line kit)

The deck is not actually attached yet, but dry-fitting fit seems perfect also.

That's it for now folks,
Sean

P.S. Can any of the Mods take the word "instructions" out of this thread title now please?

Nice work Sean.

Just a small question did you mount the clear parts before you sealed up the hull or are you adding them later with a Microscale Krtsal Klear type of product?

Cheers Daniel I must post an update shortly.

Cheers

Thanks Daniel, but David already came to my aid....

I'm finding very few adjustments needed so far, it's all fitting together very well. Very little flash as mentioned earlier. I'm doing this strictly OOB and if there are any historical inaccuracies or scale issues I can live with that.

Hull and deck put together and some of the major sub assemblies:

Torpedo tube fittings/doors seem a bit bulky, but all going together very well. The front doors actually work, the rear loading door had to be glued in place. The 2 spare torpedos actually fit into the tubes: I might built it with one coming out of the tube...
In answer to your question Sean I've already used the kit windows, but not in the wheel-house, but I'm going to have to be very careful with painting as I don't want to knock any out with masking...time to try a liquid mask i think.

Thats it for today.

Cheers

Been a while since I gave an update and unfortunatly progress has been slow...

Main deck painted and woking on some of the sub-assemblies:

With the bits dry-fitted on deck:

Considering it's age though it's going together quite well. Paints are Humbrol enamels as listed in the instructions but I'm not too sure they look right. Most pics I've seen have a darker deck and lighter sides....

I did finally find time over the few days to start on the hull of this though....it's been sitting idle in the run up to Christmas.

Portholes are still masked and a bit of tidy-up to be done around the edges but basically ready to start adding all the wee bits.

Some details shots:

It's amazing how many flaws show up in a photograph. Maybe it's just my eyesight|

Anyway, your comments are always welcomed

Enjoy

Hello Seam!! Good advances!!
There is a book that very advisable Torpedera speaks about the performance about these, the title is " The last odyssey " I do not remember the author ..
I recommend it.
This kit is of the 70 like that that it is a rustic way in some details, the torpedoes really are very bad, you can supplant them for set in aluminium or if not to do any changes to them to improve them a bit,

I give you an idea that I did in my S-7 class

My son's room used to be the display area with planes from the ceiling and lots of shelves but he grew into his own hobbies and wanted the shelves for his stuff: nerf guns and Star Wars Lego....that's fair enough I suppose.
This 1:1 scale real modeling is having more of a weathering effect on me though!

Thanks Sean. Yes, I'm happy with her. Can't believe it's taken over 2 months. The Flower will take a long time at this rate when ever I get around to it. Nearly there now....

Props, rudders, rigging and stanchions added. Just need to add the "rope" along the railings...

One more session should see it complete.

Thanks for watching

Anyway folks, may I present my completed E-Boat for your viewing pleasure:

Thanks for all the support, encouragement and advise. It was/is appreciated.
