I have done a terrible job on the hull painting of my 1/350 tamiya New Jersey. I want to sand it all off and start again. My concern is the boot top demarcation will also be sanded off and I'm worried that this will be difficult to recreate. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Before you start sanding, what paint did you use? Acrylic paint can be removed very easily with methylated spirits. Maybe no need to sand so no emergency

Awesome! I did not even consider using a solvent. I painted it with the recommended tamiya paints so I am certain they are acrylic. Thanks so much!

Tamiya acrylics come off really easy with Meths. Use a cotton swab or one of those ear cleaners.Soak it in meths and rub gently over the paint. It lifts off really easy giving you a second chance
Good luck mate,

Windex always works fantastically on Tamiya paints (which although labeled 'acrylic', are formulated differently than other acrylics.

Right on that, great airbrush cleaner too. Windex contains a large amount of Methylated spirits which evaporates quickly and leaves your windows squeaky clean

Thanks again for all your help. I painted the haze gray and dull red portions with Tamiya TS-32 and TS-33 respectively. I have since discovered that those are laquer based. The boot top black line was acrylic though and that is what I most needed off. I can repaint the rest without sanding. Hopefully I will do a better job this time.
