Hello Bill,

And welcome to MSW, you will have a great time here....enjoy.

Now for that boot size....cannot find anything official myself
but I estimate it to be 3mm in width.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi,

Not sure what time frame you re going to build.

However, as for the foreign deployment to East Asia, I do not think the SMS Emden had any true boot stripe. That is the white/buff scheme with red under water hull. Click - Try looking at this model by P.G. Huff which should give an idea.
There was a 10cm "boot stripe" in signal red (RAL 3001) according to Mr. Huff right below the CWL.

As for the war time livery, there was a boot stripe 80cm parallel and below the CWL going up to the first planking row above CWL.
The color was most likely brown/red whereas the under water hull supposely was red lead throughout all the lifetime of the ship.

Thanks guys for the info. I am doing the yellow buff color which is prewar. So no boot stripe it is. Makes it a little easier. This is a tricky little ship to do as it is.

thanks
Bill
