Hi folks,

It's been a while since I started anything watery. I've plans to try an LCPL and have the hull and I'm gathering information for the build.

I've started to clean up the inside of the hull I got and the rest will be scratch build or borrowed/adapted from the Revelle kit.

So by the time I get it built there should be a new plastic kit on the market lol.

Cheers

Hi Al
I will be watching with interest . . .

Couple of questions for you
What does LCPL stand for I'm having trouble finding a pic?
Where did you get the hull which looks to be fibreglass and what scale is it?

Happy building

Cheers Kev

Kev to answer one question the LCP(L) stands for Landing Craft Personnel (Large) here's a LINK to HMS Lizard a RN landing craft training facility the very first picture is a LCP(L).

Hi Kev,

I got the hull from Christian Sheppard-Capurro in Gibraltar. He had a thread on here a while back. It's 1/35 scale and came with a basic plan, although I have to do more research about the interior.

I believe the same hull was used for the later version with the gun tubs.

Later version before the LCP R

If I'm correct on the hull then I could build either version?

Cheers

Thanks Al,
Could fancy doing one of these myself.

Thought it might be one of Christians, trying to decide which ones to order

Hi Kev,

The hull is excellent, but being open topped it needs a lot of clean up inside to get some smooth surfaces to set the line to build the internals on.

I think there may be a 3rd version similar to the USN one but without the gun tubs lol.

Cheers

Al,

I'm sure you are aware but . . .

The old dodge in RC boats was to use Halfords P38 Easy Sand car body filler over the mat. Then smooth down with sandpaper,

Enjoy

Hi Kev,

I just need the sides done, down to the lower hull line, then I can put some runners along the length of the boat and what's underneath will be boarded over - well at least that the plan .

It's a very good point though, I had though about just filling it in and smoothing it down. Thanks for the tip on Halfords P38 Easy Sand car body filler I hadn't thought about that.

Cheers

Al
