I am building my first ship model in years and i decides to something simple like a Los Angeles class SSN
and im not sure how to paint it
Is it over all black or dark gray?
or is it black or dark gray with red below the waterline
and what shade of red for the waterline?
any and all help will be greatly appreciated

I served on an SSN for 4 years. Several paint schemes. Sail sides DARK gray with top of sail black and hull black. Black all over. Sometimes the red was from midline of hull down and sometimes from the waterline down. Nose cone sometimes all black and sometimes the red was carried through the nose cone. Any good anti-fouling red.

I use model master paints for brushing or air brushing would insignia red be a good match and as for spray can i use krylon

Insignia would probably work. Google "Hull Red Paint" or "Anti-fowling Red" Someone jump in here!
