The Type XVII U-boats were small coastal submarines used for research to test Hellmuth Walter's high test peroxide propulsion system, which offered a combination of air-independent propulsion and high submerged speeds.

Oh dear, another U-boat to add to the stash but at least it's something different and as far as I know its not been done before.

I could find no other references for a kit of the Type XVII when putting this article together except for Micro-Mir's.
I found on this post on the Britmodeller forums from a Russian member (who I think is affiliated with Micro-Mir) that gives more images of the kit.

"Spartan" is an understatement, but I guess, so was the prototype. The PE helps a lot. Looks like a pleasant 1 hr, build! (And that includes opening the box!)
