This is a huge model compared to my previous models the reference book was worth seeking. How is the deck railing secured? do I have to drill the deck or what? http://gallery.kitmaker.net/showphoto.php/photo/449767/ppuser/40887

I assume you mean securing photoetch rails to the model? People use different approaches; I like to paint the ship and railing separately and apply the rails only after the ship is mostly assembled. I use Elmer's (white) glue to attach them.

Along the deck/hull seam is usually good (hides the seam too!) On superstructures the rails typically go along the edges of the deck as well. You don't have to drill holes, just fit the runs of photoetched railing along the top of the surface and secure them there with glue.

Also, don't try to attach the full length of PE railing if etched in one piece, but separate into sections if needed. If you don't, it will pop off when your hull flexes from temperature changes, movement, etc.

Finally got back to this model, big mistake ordering the camo paint mask for this model. The masks are too narrow, they must be for the Academy model? I bought the GatorMask version B. I am sorry to say I wasted my money. I should and will go with Tamiya masking tape instead. Wow...what a long layoff from modeling. I need to relax more anyone want a 42 version camo mask? its yours for cost of shipping.
