SI,

Nice progress. Those launches and barrel looking really nice. First time I seen a weapon on a launch.

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Armed steam launches, including torpedo boats, whilst not universal were not uncommon in the pre-dreadnought era. (except in Imperial Russia, where it seems to have compulsory).

Go back to the 18th centaury, and swivel guns were commonly mounted on ships boats, usually the bigger launches when used as guard boats, for cutting out expeditions etc.

Thanks for looking in.

Cheers

Thanks Russ,

It did drop below 30 in London at the weekend, the only problem is, the night time temperature hasn't dropped as much.

Thanks again to Todd for donating the Master barrels to me, they do make a difference. I am going to have to invest in a set for my 1904 version of this fine lady.

Looking really good, Si. Really close to the fun of rigging.

Gaz

Then again... When it comes to rigging, there always seems to be a tensioned line that comes loose and causes great aggravation in getting the loose end back in place.

Cheers

The mainmast mostly built, just the ladders from deck level to go.

More soon,

Cheers

SI,

Those boats do look sweet. I did notice that the inside of the funnels aren't showing usage.

Thanks Gaz,

Do like pre dreadnought boats, the steam pinnaces always seem to be well armed.

Got a little further today.

Quarterdeck details in place, and railings at the after end of the fo'c's'le deck level.

Also painted the pinnace funnels black, to hide the lack of hole, and save weathering.

Ladders and after railings down.

Main turrets fitted, now she really looks like Battleship.

Fore topmast fitted, rain stopped play on getting the mainmast sprayed.

More soon.

Cheers

Looking very close to being launched. Are you going to give the hull a wash? It would bring out all that great detail.

cheers

Hi Michael,

Just the mainmast to finish and fit, then the rigging, and that will be quite a job finally there a few external bits and pieces.

I think a very light wash would be a good idea, as the moulded detail is very good.

Thanks for the suggestion, and looking in.

Cheers

Si

Got to rig her yet, and I reckon that will take nearly as long again, love these complex predread rigs

she will have an earlier version of herself joining the fleet at some time, but the next pre dread will be British, and looking like she was in 1915.

Thanks for looking in mate.

Wow Si,

you have come quite a long way since I last checked in here!

Nice and smooth work as always, mate, and your 'almost' OOB build looks really fine! It looks like your are approaching the final push here!

All looking great Simon. I have no idea how you keep so many projects on the go and organized. If I have more than 2 kits going at once my work space is a disaster!

Thanks Rory,

Insanity mate, my work bench is a permanent disorganised disaster area. The basic idea is lots of smallish plastic boxes with bits of each project in.

Occasionally I get things mixed up and temporarily misplace bits, but they usually turn up.

The upside is I always have something else to work on whilst glue or paint is drying, and quite often can airbrush bits of different projects in one go, saves time & airbrush cleaner!

Update of the recent work.

The one pic I omitted from the last update.

The mainmast in place.

Davits that sit on the side of the hull aft of the midships secondary turret.

Very fragile and tricky to fold.

sprayed.

Making the downhauls for lines between the funnels.

The rigging under way.

Still a long way to go with the rigging.

More soon.

Cheers

Si
