Does anyone know who was the commander of the German battleship Tirpitz during July 1943-March 1944? I have googled the question and found that friedrich karl topp was the commander but it shows that he was the commander of a u-boat and not of the Tirpitz. For some reason I just can't find much if any information/photos of the commander(s).
So can anyone help me with this dilemma?
Thank you.

Friedrich Karl Topp was commander of the Tripitz from Jan 1941 till Feb 1943.

Erich Topp was the uboat commander.

Some reading regarding commanders after Friedrich Topp.

Hi Jody,

According to Patrick Bishop in his book "Target Tirpitz" Kapitan Zur See Hans Meyer relieved Karl Topp on 21st Feb 1943. He was relieved by his 2nd in command Kapitan Zur See when he was wounded 2nd April 1944.

I have nothing else that corroborates that, but Bishop's research is usually pretty good.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Si

Maybe it's because he spent a lot of time docked in a fjord in Norway?
