Heya, Folks,

Just saw on the Perth website that Italeri is going to be releasing and L.C.V.P. in 1/35th scale!!

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/
newf.htm

I loved their L.C.M. kit, so I am going to assume that it will be of equal quality (easier to be build than the flawed and expensive Fonderies Miniatures kit and better detailed than the old Lindberg 1/32nd scale kit).
Dunno when it is coming out, but it would be great if it was sooner rather than later...

Hopefully they will continue with this series and release more 35th scale landing craft in the future!

Aloha,

Johnny B.

I think I'll be wanting one of these. I've always wanted to do a small Omaha Beach Dio and have been collecting figures for one for two years. I held off because the FM kit was a bit high, I hope this one is not so expensive.

Jack and Coke Night has been postponed till futher notice.

I dunno if this is a brand new kit or not, Jeff, BUT I can tell you that that does not look like the old Lindberg kit...of that I am certain.

Furthermore, the FM kit was kind of complicated from what I saw, which, at least in my experience, is usually not the case for Italeri kits... If anything, they tend to go the route of over-simplification.

I really wish that someone would start making some 35th scale Landing Craft crew figures suitable for the Pacific!

Just my two cents! Can't wait for this kit to come out --- wonder if it will be a Fall or early Winter release like the LCM kit...and I wonder if Trumpeter will try and scoop Italeri on this one like they did the L.C.M.?!

Much Aloha,

Johnny B

In 1/35, 10 feet is 350 feet 1/1. The 1/1 LCVP is 36'3", in 1/35 that would be just a little over a foot. If you were refering to the APA, then a 1/35 APA would be a little over 14'!!!

I hope not in 1/35! That would be over 9 feet! There is a 1/245 LST made by Lindberg titled "D-Day Invasion LST" In terms of details, it is honestly a kids toy. A lot of detailing would be needed to get this thing looking even halfway decent, but on the (small) plus side, it looks like an LST from a distance. My grandfather was a radioman aboard LST-1048 and the photos I've seen just can't be compared to this model. But like I said, a lot of detailing and scratchbuilding can get it up to par.

1/35 LCT by Accurate Armour.

Over feet long, huge. From their website:
"This massive model by Derek Hansen & Rob Tearle is 62" (1600mm) long and 13.25" (335mm) wide..."

LCT-4

Cost that much too: £ 469.99 Brit, or only $856.20, what a bargain. I think I will order 2.

FYI, Folks,

Good news. My local hobby shop tells me that the Italeri LCVP is due out in August!!! Now THAT'S not that long of a wait!!! They said the kit retails for around $64.00, which is a bit pricey, but still a better buy in my opinion than the problematic Fonderie Miniatures kit that I have heard horror stories about...

Guess I'll stop re-working the old Lindberg kit for now...

Aloha,

Johnny B
