Hey all
Has anyone heard mention of the LCT (4) that Accurate Armour have released?! IT is 62" long resin, white metal, PE and can ferry 9 M4s / Cromwells or 6 Churchills...
Oh, and it ain't a hundred quid either...
USD $1100...
Sheesh

It does look impressive though. I wonder how much a full dio would end up costing :-).

An impressive beast indeed...

Quoted Text

This massive model by Derek Hansen & Rob Tearle is 62" (1600mm) long and 13.25" (335mm) wide and consists of three main castings in resin with resin ballast tank decks, wheelhouse and front winch decks. A huge quantity of other fittings in resin, plastic, metal, and etched brass result in an exceptional level of detail. 20mm cannons, Flot-A-Nets, Carley floats, rowing boat, stowage and ALL fittings are included. Does 'big' mean bland? No way! This model is fully rivetted and each plate has been designed, located and overlapped using original British War-time shipyard drawings!(Over 120,000 rivets (and still counting!) are clearly shown. ------- snip ---------- The model is shipped in a 24.5"(610mm)x 16.5"(420mm)x 12.5"(320mm) carton and weighs 11kg.

While it is undoubtably worth it's weight in gold, at an "export" price of £469.99 I'm guessing I'll be giving this one a miss :-) but then again complete resin vehicles in general are not quite within my price range...

I'd LOVE to have one of those.....but I think I need to win the lotery first

Btw, are there any LCT's available in 1:35?

Martin,

This one is 1:35..... AA have both the LCT(4) in 1:35 & 1:76.... they also have a 1:76 LCT(5) on their future releases list...

Italeri also have a 1:35 LCVP on their catalogue... HERE

And to keep the Landing Craft series "afloat" there's always Italeri LCM(3) or Trumpeter LCM(3) and Fonderie Miniatures LCVP and LCA (all in 1/35)

The AA LCT(4) is very impressive... but I am terribly curious about how many AA have been able to sell....
Also in their "Next Releases" are a waterline X-Craf (if it is a cutted hull of the full hull X-Craft, it has an amazing quality) and also a IJN Ko-Hyoteki (also known as A-Type Target-A) Midget submarine of the Pearl Harbour Attack (December 7, 1941).
I can add that of midget it has nothing - it is about 90cm long!!!
And this I am looking forward to get (I have a Sidney Attack version, resin and brass, 1/35, made by an Aussie Modeler who made about a dozen)

TMMI is going to start an article on the Accurate armour on its next issue (122) - so we will get a good chance to see the beast being built

Accurate Armor had one built and primed at Telford a couple of years ago. It's VERY impressive! Had I the cash, I'd certainly get one. Mind you, I haven't the room either! :-)

:-) :-)

I know Vinnie, I know....
Although I have AA U-boats and X-Craft, only the last is built (80%)... but the boxes are proundly in my stash!
I don't have the space for the VII-C and the necessary Dio to go with it!
For the type XXIII I could snag it in some "spare" space

If "you know who" returned our stuff I could go for it...
or maybe not...

Bradley,
Thank you, but I have all the necessary info, and the model is already built (I only have to preform some repairs from last show that I attended with it - 2 years now!!!).
The fellow Aussie modeler provided me with scale plans, and I got a paper from... hmmm (don't remeber the name of the Australian Institution - but it's a 24 page acount of the facts with maps and pictures) and also Gakken volumes 35 and 36 on IJN Midget submarines (and although I can not read Japanese, the quality of the pictures (period and from today) and the scale drawings and CGI renders make it a essencial reference for anyone interested in this kind of contraptions and a good complement to Paul Kemp's books on Midget Submarines (which is more focoused on German / Italian / British ones))...
But thank you for the offer

Hi Steve!

Thanks Rui:

I'll have to check it out. I've gotten those little airplanes for my Lex whch are kind of average, but I've seen some pictures of their other kits which look first rate.

One of my favorite dreams, when hearing about kits like this, is to someday get a group build done by a modeling club. Have several peopel do the ship, several others do the diorama base, and others do the tanks and figures. THAT would be great, but I doubt it will ever happen.
