That's a pretty awesome contraption. Used for fire support? Can we see finished pics?

Hi Kenny,
The raft was used to patrol the Saigon river (during opeation Niagara Falls). Similar constructions (a bit bigger) were used as ferry's; moveable bridges, to get vehicles and or equipment across certain rivers.
Finished pictures? It's by far finished but I hope I'll make the Welcome to the Nam deadline (30 th of april 2006)
I'll keep you posted
kind regards

Hi Mark
I still remember your search for "What is this?" a few months ago!
I am glad that you were able to find what it was and it looks very good - your scratchbuiding
A real lucky strike for your happiness was the fact that you could found several of them to take pictures -you're a lucky guy!!!!!
It looks like you will have to make two of them, so I guess it is a good exercise
Have you find out how to make the floatation buoys?
Perhaps blue styrofoam? Just a hint
Congratulations on an original model/dio that will come out of your work (for sure!!).
Keep us updated on your progress, please!

Hi Rui,
Thanks for your reaction.
Several people were so kind to point me in the right direction regarding the floating bridge system and the boat. here's another pic of the bridge sytem used as a ferry:
There's only one boat (thank God!) between the pontoons . In this picture they used four pontoon elements, the raft uses two.
I already made a mold to cast the individual tubes of wich the pontoons consist. I will post some pics of those very soon.
kind regards
Mark
