No these aren't Elco's

Apparently these are a type that I don't recall the name but only seven were built - I'll check the name at home and tell you tonight

No, these are the standard 83' Coast Guard cutters, several hundred of which were built between 1941-1944. Material on these craft can be found in:

Years ago, the now defunct MARINE MODEL Company offered a traditional wood kit of this type under the name "Sub Buster". For a kit developed in the 1940s/50s, it was fairly well-detailed. I have one in my collection. One shows up on eBay every so often and typically sells for around $60-$70.
