Matt

To my knowledge, the RN did not use the term MK to describe its coastal forces craft, so I have no idea from whence that came. A VOSPER Type I was 73' MTB from the series MTB380-395 (the AIRFIX kit), while the Type II was a similar boat from the series MTB523-537. The primary difference was the armament configuration. Generally speaking, the Type I mounted a twin 20mm MKIX forward and four 18" torpedo tubes, while the Type II mounted a 6pdr MKVII forward, the twin 20mm MKIX aft, and two 18" torpedo tubes.

See John Lambert and my "Allied Coastal Forces of World War II, vol. 2" for drawings, photos, and specs of all the VOSPERs.
