I was searching the web for references for one of those dreaded tracked things, and ran across this landing craft. It has an H-39 on it, and I believe it to be a pre war, or early WW2 French design. Anybody have any more information on it?

Hi Dave,
In the book The Desert War by George Forty there is a picture of a similar LCM being used by the British in Algiers. It's from the IWM collection A12706 and the marking on the craft are LCM 73 so this type were bring used by the British in 1942.
I recognised the different type bow, I haven't got any more information I'm afraid but a search on IWM site might bring up something.
Cheers

Hi again Dave,
Here's a link to the various type of Landing Craft. It's a guess, but this craft may have been 'Landing Craft Vehicle' the forerunner of the LCM 3.
