I just uploaded four photos of the 1/48 scale model of PT 326, an 80' ELCO, that I just finished. It's in Members' Models, Al Ross Gallery.

Lovely model Al - as I think you know the 80' ELCO is on my "to-build" list! She's a bit too clean and fresh off the slips looking for my tastes, but I suppose the client gets what the client wants...

Thanks for sharing the pics with us, look forward to seeing more of your work.

Yup. That's one of the problems you usually face with custom models. When they're mounted this way, almost everyone wants them pristine. The few that I've done weathered for clients have been in dioramas, like the two I just uploaded. This is an abandoned boat like you might find along the coast of Maine. It's in 1/48 scale and the planks are 1/64" plywood.

Hi Al,

Thanks for posting the pictures. Good looking boat but I'd agree with Gunney that she would look better battered a bit and weathered.

It muct be quite hard when a customer wants it 'as new' when you think how she would look if you had a free hand.

Lovely mount for her, will look very impressive in a display case.

The rowing boat looks cool. Very natural setting - nice one.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Al

PS: It's really good to see some photos of kits on site again, there doesn't sem to have been that many 'here's my kit' photos recently. Maybe that's just my percepton but thanks again anyway.

Hi Al...
Not just your perceptions, mate...haven't had much activity at all lately with this type of member discussion. I hope that it's just because the summer lull, with activities being concentrated elsewhere. We have to remember that MSW is a member driven website, and we sure do appreciate member submissions, mates!

Couldn't agree more with you both. Let's see some more models on here please! Btw I just submitted a review to Rui of my latest, a (very small!) 1/1200 USS Enterprise built OOTB. Here's a snap until the review appears...

Needle nose tweezers, and the fact that there aren't many parts in this ship anyway! But you'll have to read the review to find out just how many (or indeed few)...

That looks like an awfully small kit!

I've never built something that small so I look forward to the review.

It is pretty small, and has very few parts as well - so if you decide to build out of the box, as I did, it's quite easy to manage. In fact, very easy - painting the aircraft is probably the most fiddly part of the job.

Hopefully Skipper will have time to get the review published soon - hint hint!!!
