Hi Gunny,

The RN chaps are:

1. The old Monty Italeri figure, the one with his back to you and

2. One of the Commandos from the MB Set, the one who had a camo smock on.

I've done a little touching up since the photo as I spotted a few things I didn't see last night.

Cheers

Hi Gunny,

Humm, just you and me in this post LOL, LOL (and Dave)

I got some of the Trumpetet figures, arrived yesterday. You get six but they are in pairs of 2 off the same. I'll make up a few and see how they match in.

They have foul weather clothing so I've got a reference for that. Were the belts and strings on the Life Jackets blue of khaki? Can't find a colour photo of that particular type of life jacket so far.

Cheers

I hear ya, mate!
Listen, are you talking about the 1/35 WWII US Navy LCM Crew from Trumpeter? They're a pretty decent set, and the vests on these figgies were blue overall, mate. . .I'm trying to locate a color shot to verify this, I've seen 'em in films, but not too many stills. . .

Hi Gunny,

Yip, I've used sea blue for the colour which looks right but as there is quite a reasonable amount of detail I wondered if the ties and staraps were sort of buff. As sea blue is so deep/dark I'll need to think of a way to highlight the detail.

Here's a link I came across yesterday that gives good examples of WW2 foul weather clothing:

US Navy Life Preservers (but can't see examples of that particular jacket)

Any colour pics would be useful.

Hi Gunny,

Found this site when I was looking for pictures of Kapok jackets on USS WASP Survivors, in fact a lot of interesting sites came up:

http://ussslcca25.com/uss_wasp.htm

apart from the story scroll down to the bottom and see site pictures, some interesting photos and great models at the end.

Hi Gunny,

Here's a couple of shots of the crew in the boat and of two of the Trumpeter Figures with Hornet Heads.

Sorry the pics aren't great, it's a bit windy for outside shots today.
