Wanted to get one of these for ages, and found it a few weeks ago at the local Toyworld so grabbed it.

Mostly painted and assembled. I think it may be a bit too green so plan to spray a wash of mostly khaki drab to tone it down abit.

Ahoy, mate,
And Welcome to Model Shipwrights!

The "Pibber" is always one of my faves, and this kit is by far one of the most enjoyable to build. . .looks good, what are your plans for this little gem? A stand alone or maybe part of a dio scene?? There are alot of cool figures that you could incorporate in with your PBR. . .

Thinking about a dio but not sure yet. Space is kind of a premium. I don't even have anywhere for finished kits yet.

One of the figures with the kit kind of confuses me. I dont really understand why he's using a m79 (?) grenade launcher when theres a perfectly good belt fed one on the boat.

What other figures would you recommend to go with the boat?

I hear you, mate, I would love to build some elaborate dio's too, but there's only so much shelf space, for sure!

The kit figures are fine to use, not really sure myself why they sculpted him that way either! But depending on what your dio idea would be, there are alot of good figgies to use in conjunction. . .for instance, the SEALS used this craft often for water insertion, and there are some fine looking SEAL figures on the market now. . .if you haven't tried this out yet, go to the search box in the upper right side of your screen, and type in "pbr" to search MSW for related articles. There's some really good stuff there!
Cheers,

Hi Pave-Hawk,

Welcome to Shipwrights. This is the second of these I've seen recently, it's a tempting model to build. Not really my era but it looks like a nice kit.

Can't help on the figures question much. Dragon do several sets of US troops in Vietnam and I'm sure you could get some figures from them. Verlinden do some as well as some VC and a sanpan if your thinking dio.

Thanks for sharing, and I'll look forward to seeing your build progress.

Re the colour, as you weather it down it should be fine but I'm no expert on US paint colors.

Cheers

Very nice so far. One trick I use when painting large scale boats is to paint it as if it were brand new. Then, lightly paint a shade dardarker in all the places thathat nomally wouldn't see any wear. Then take a lighter shade and paint the area that would see the most wear remembering to leave your original color in the mix too. It give a geally nice subtle effect.

For 8 years and at least 4 house moves this thing has sat in a state of partial completion.

Finally had the time and space to get to a state of near completion (is anything ever truly complete ).

Apologies for the fairly poor phone pictures.

Ahoy Iain

What a superb build indeed.

Its great to see the finished result.

Its easy for these builds to lapse into an extended time frame thats for sure.

Yours has been worth the wait indeed.

I hang my head in shame in respect of my E-Boat I must say.

I have no excuses like moving house etc.

Well done on completing the build Iain.

Cheers

Sean
