Heya, Folks,
Does anyone have the new Osprey Vietnam War Riverine Forces book...? I'm curious if there are any interesting photos or illustrations in it... I've seen a lot of photos of such craft and am interested to see if they found anything "new"...i.e. previously unpublished photos.
And of course, do you think the book is a worthwhile purchase...?
Thanks!
Much Aloha,
Johnny B.

The book is okay, but not IMHO as good as Squadron's 'Brown Water Navy'. It has to cover a fair amount of ground so most subjects are touched on rather than explored in depth, like most NVG books. I'm also not a fan of the digital illustrations used for the colour plates.
Couldn't tell you if there are any glaring errors in the book, as I'm not an expert on the subject.

Thanks, Drader!
I think I'll hold off purchasing until I can take a look at it...
Appreciate the info!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes them.

I have both the Squadron and the Osprey books. There isn't any one source I've found to be all inclusive. There is a great hardcover book - Small Combatants of the U.S. - covers much from PT Boats to the Riverine craft. Each book has provided some new wrinkle of detail or photograph. I've gotten enough to start many many projects. Latest additions to my gallery features some of the riverine craft in progress - all 1/35th.
