New 1/144 IJN Yamato From Soar Art Workshop

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 - 05:19 AM UTC

By KENNY LOUP
Soar Art Workshop likes to do things big, really big. They shocked the ship modeling community with the release of their 1/144 KM Bismarck and now their going even bigger. Soar Art’s next big battlewagon is no other than the 1/144 IJN Yamato. This big kit comes complete with well detailed scout aircraft and even the crew, posed in both action stations and at attention for inspection. Details from the website are sketchy, although it is known that this appeared in their 2007 catalog. So, if you are a “big” fan of the Yamato, then this kit is for you.

A BIG model of a BIG ship, for a modeler with a BIG house and a FAT wallet! This could be a good museum model - or for the above mentioned BIG comment ;) I still like my 700th scale one Cheers, Rui

If you include the addition needed for the house, it could prove costly. X8-)

Worst thing is, that I actually have the room for it ..... oh I want it ..... but I know, I'm propably not going to like the pricetag ..... and I know for sure, that my Girlfriend won't :D Burt darn ... a 1/144 Yamato and Akagi ..... that could be so awesome...... would be kind of ironic, that because I can't find IJN Carriers in 1/350, that I'd have to build them in 1/144 *o*

blaster76 SAID
The Akagi in 350 scale has been announced by Hasegawa. A couple of years ago some company had a huge ready built Yamato, was that in 144 or 72., or maybe this is the same kit at long last released. Oh and for the experts, in looking at the pictures I get the impression that there were AA batteries afixed to the fantail (those twin square mounts) Is this something new?
