This is an in-box review of Verlindens latest offering, a US Ranger in Vietnam, presumably on an LRRP mission.

Run Through The Jungle

The figure breaks down into the usual pattern for resin kits, seperate head, toros, legs arms, etc.....
Molding is pretty good, but a little flat, the parts have a "chunky" feel to them but look good out of the box.
There are seams on the sleeves but not on the pants. It would have been nice to have both.
The pack on the figure is large and looks bulky, like it should. Verlinden provides six grenades and a large (square) canteen to add to the outside of the pack.
A separate K-Bar knife, machete, two canteens and older M-16 pouches are included with the kit. All are fine, but not great.
Our ranger's CAR-15 come in three pieces: the reciever and front grip are one piece with the folding stock and sight/barrel done as seperate parts. I always find this kind of weapon a challenge to do as they usually end up being extremely fragile.
The pant pockets on the figure have single buttons and there is a small pocket molded into the left sleeve of the figure's uniform -- leading me to believe that may be something comon on locally produced sets of tiger stripe camo.
Scuplting on the head is nicely done and a nice boonie hat is included with the kit. The hat's draw string is molded onto the face of the Ranger.
A small base with a rock and vegetation is also included.

Overall

A nice kit, a great subject but nothing that really pushes this baby over the top.
The recently released "All Quiet On The Western Front," I think, really sets the standards for Verlinden's recent work.
While a good looking figure, the Ranger hangs out of reach of the "All Quiet" figure.
