Hi Bruce, I thought of proposing a "flying boat" campaign a while ago, but I recently decided to try and get a photo-reconnaissance campaign going (see http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=112060&page=1 ) I would love to join sea plane campaign. In my mind, the Short Sunderland III is one of the coolest aircraft (or is it a boat?) ever built! There are so many beatiful sea boats around! If I decide to build something from the Swedish Air Force (my ususal subjects) it would be either a Catalina or a Dornier Do 24T (I take it that the aircraft should have a full hull). You must mean 2008? Cheers! Polarbear |

hello Bjorn,James and Mark, in am involved in 7 or 8 campaigns this year including running one plus being co-leader for another campaign.i think a 2009 campaign will work for me,i am also running one in 1009 this is my schedule for 2008: 1)no guns allowered, model shipwright 2)forgotten sisiters, model shipwright 3)cold war tin cans, model shipwright 4)blitzkrieg,armorama 5)battle for europe, aeroscale 6)hollywood at sea, model shipwright 7)pre-dreadnought,model shipwright iam helping Matt run blitzkrieg and i am the campaign leader for pre-dreadnought. in 2009 i am running the ww1 campaign.so i thought that a sea plane campaignin late 2009 would be right for me,if was to run it. any one of you who would like to take this idea and run it as a campaign, has my blessing for i have a lot to do 2008 and a very slow builder. i hope this helps to explain why i want to start it in 2009.if anyone does take this to start in 2008,i would suggest to make it atleast a 10 month campaign cheers, Bruce |

I think maybe that Roden Felixstowe could be just right for this campaign, though there is plenty of time to change my mind a lot between now and when this one would start.

hello Andrew, which Felixstowe do you mean.the F.1 fighter reconnaissance flying boat (1910) or the F.2 reconnaissance flying boat (1917) or F.3 anti-submarine flying boat (1917) or F.5 reconnaissance flying boat (1918) or the Fury long range patrol flying boat (1920's) or the Porte Baby patrol flying boat (1916). if you mean any of them,it is o.k. by me.or any other Sea Plane or Flying Boat that is or was used by the military or civilians. cheers, Bruce Andrew, sorry, it is not often in know what i am talking about. cheers |

It's the Felixstowe F2.A late version, Saunders built. That's the Roden description on the box anyway.
When the time comes i may just whimp out and do something simpler, depending on the time available to me then.

hello Bjorn, i check what campaigns i am involved with, look at my calender, and at any campaigns i might want to do before i join or propose a campaign.this way i do not get in over my head. i have a 3 year calender for campaigns,a 5 year calender for my planing ahead, and a 10 year calender for models ,paints and anything else i might want to get.the 10 year calender gets updated every 7 days,so i can plan out money.it is also great when i buy multiple kits from the same place to save on shipping. i was in the retail business for 30 years,so i had to plan ahead for up to 10 years.and i works for me.plus i am a very slow builder. cheers Bruce |

I will definitely be in on this build. I'm guessing a Kingfisher would be appropriate? It's been sitting for a long time staring at me to do it. If not, my mother loves float planes, so I never had a problem getting her to buy me one back in the day. needless to say i have a few waiting for me. I really wanna build that kingfisher though |

So how does one get to that page otherwise? I have yet to find a way to navigate to the enlistment page of a campaign that hasn't been fully approved and listed on this page , which shows only "active campaigns" and "debarkation zone" - no sign of proposed campaigns that need people to sign up at all. Sorry, but software and end-user testing is my job, and the lack of an obvious way to navigate to a page containing a list of proposed campaigns is something I would definitely log a bug over. |
