Should be well within the range of resin enthusiasts. Since it doesn't need any PE upgrades or aftermarket tires, ultimately less than say...a Stryker with all of the possible aftermarket items necesary to do one "correctly." I'll be posting a review of it in four weeks. |

Four weeks? aaaaaargh! Must....have....one....now....okay, two now. Hope it will show up on the website soon. It looks to be a good hunk of resin, so I'm guessing approx. 2 and a half dineros at least. |

Well, I might be able to do the review sooner if my wife sends it to me. With my luck the kit and I would pass each other in transit. |

Now we just need it in plastic. Too bad they didn't choose the more common International Harvester/Navistar MaxxPro version. It is becoming the standard. Latest versions have dual rear wheels and added side armor plates. The plan is to completely replace uparmored M1114 and M1151 HMMWVs w/MRAPs. |

Too bad those front hoods look so soft. I prefer the brutish look of the 4x4 and 6x6 Cougar myself. But,any MRAP in plastic or resin is better than nothing at all. |

I've never understood why plastic is the standard. We'd still be waiting on this MRAP if we had to wait for a plastic company to produce. Still not even an M1151out there. Regarding the choice of vehicle in this Cougar MRAP, it is EOD specific. The MaxxPro may have EOD variants, but if so, I never saw/used one. That said, rest assured all measurements and photo walkarounds have been done for that one as well. Only a matter of time... As for the venerable HMMWV, the ECV-2 versions will keep the line going for a while at least. |

I prefer palstic due to the price. Resin is usually cost prohobitive when it comes to complete kits.
The Cougar may be deisgned for EOD use, but we are using them for general transport here in 10th MTN.
This is the US version, I'm not sure if the Brits use it too though. |

It's based on a US vehcile. A British version shouldn't be too difficult to build from it though. |

And what would the ECV-2 be about? I've never heard of it. Is it just another up-armored variant or something completely new? John |

awesome Kit. I suspect i will also have to wait for the plastic. However you never know your luck. Excellent subject and I would be keen to see more along the same lines. Maybe even a step back to the Caspir and the Buffalo. |
Cheers

This particular MRAP is used in the EOD role. It can be used (and HAS been used) as a convoy escort vehicle, an APC, and "other" roles. It's pretty good at taking out front gates as well. If you Google "Cougar MRAP" several sites will give you the lowdown on it. |

Pretty much. The MRAP (Mine Resistant, Ambush Protected) vehicles are replacing uparmored HMMWVs for convoy escort and general patrol duties. They are designed to be (and are) much more survivable than the uparmored HMMWVs. Ther are about four versions being used in Iraq now, with the MaxPro, as I posted, becoming the standard. |

Hey all. I've not heard much about Cromwell's release of the 1/35 Cougar MRAP lately. It was supposed to be released at Euro, but things have been pretty quiet. Anyone have one or bought one? How does it "look" in terms of accuracy and buildability? (I've seen some photos of the parts, but nothing since) How much does it cost? Where can I get one? (Cromwell doesn't even list it on their website) |

As far as accuracy, it is spot on with my own measurements. As for buildability-the parts fit is excellent. I've just started a bit of contruction as I've just returned home. I plan to do a review, probably more out of the box than an actual build review. The upper and lower boby pieces, along with the hood, mate up beautifully. The kit can be made into two different versions, a troop carrier and an EOD vehicle with the gyro cam. The interior details are very good. The A/C unit and dash are very accurate. The layout is a little diffent than the one I'm doing, but with the right references you can build it to suit your own needs. Aside from driver and TC seats (each different, with a very nice five point harness) there are two banks of four seats. Each of the four differs as well-all of the five point harnesses are different. You can cut them up the make whichever seating arrangement you need. I am placing one rear facing for the gyro cam operator. All of this detail won't be hidden either-the two front and the two rear doors open, plus you can see through the gun turret. The other thing worth mentioning is the up gunner turret itself. It is the same as we've been wanting for the 1114's and 1151's for quite some time. |

Does anyone know if there is a street date and price of the MRAP?
Any word on a plastic poor man's release of it? Resin is nice but digs to deep into my budget. |
