Hi Russ,

Just told Mrs Duster how big & how much, no way I could hide this purchase, and she was very good about it. As to what I am going to do with it when I have finished it, you get the same answer as Mrs Duster - I will worry about that when I finished it!

Hi Luciano,

Give me a chance mate, the after market isn't out yet

Hi Dave,

Thanks Mate, you may have to wait a bit, but I will be blogging the build.

Cheers

Guys

Si,

Now that is a very impressive acquisition. I am looking forward to the day that I can acquire a large scale kit myself...

Looking forward to seeing her come together!!!

they had the test shots of the 1/200 Hood on display at the national IPMS (Southern Model Expo) in Melbourne over the weekend just gone-it's immense! I'm surprised you didn't need to open up a wall to get it inside the house Si!

Now tell me, aside from the cost (ahem, which is equally as large ) how did you get that past Mrs Duster, and more importantly, where do you plan to put it after you've built it?

Hi Michael,

was an even tighter fit into the car, yup it is a bit big.

Hi Warren,

Only just arrived in the UK, had this on pre order.

From conversation with the Pontos guys at Telford back in November, I don't think I am breaching any confidence, but they were talking of producing a set, that would be first choice.

Cheers

I picked up a somewhat large package today.

It does look really nice inside the box. The hull shape looks good, the main turrets are much better than the 1/350th kit.

Cheers

Si

Hasn't even arrived in Australia yet..

You going to get a detail set for it I presume..

Hi Luciano,

Thanks mate, blind luck really, Hannants can be a bit hit and miss with 1/350 aftermarket, so every so often I have a browse through the website to see what gems I can find.

On the whole I like 'vette, a lot, I agree the light weapons, the bridge and small details could use some help, but I reckon it is excellent value for money. some aftermarket in the form of a little etch and turned brass and a decal sheet or two and I coutld quite happily build several of these babies.

Cheers

Nice haul Si, what do you think of the Flower?

Personally I think it's nice but could do with the smaller detail and guns being replaced.

Nice haul Luciano,

The Holland, is that any particular sub, or class? certainly looks interesting, as does the other boat.

Si

Si, it's the Holland 1 also called the H-1 or HM Submarine Torpedo Boat No. 1
The first submarine commissioned into the Royal Navy

The other sub is the Resurgam, the worlds second mechanically propelled sub, designed by Reverend George William Garrett and built in 1879

The Ark Royal book, didn't know it was around, found it just browsing through the books. It has some nice detail drawings, especially of the side galleries and the compass platform.

Went to pick my order from Hannants, but they had postal problems, so next week.

However did find this.

Going to be a very handy reference for the Merit kit when it finally arrives.

Si, Jan, as nice as a dio with the Flower and Typ VII would be in 1/144, they would be too big together for my display area.

Jan, I believe the Revell destroyer is the Zvesda kit re-boxed, which is a nice kit it just lacks on refined detail and no dedicated AM sets.

Definitiv very nice stuff - and a 1/144 diorama with the flower and the VIIC sub would certainly be a nice thing, as Si said

Question to all here - has anybody seen the new Revell's 1936 destroyer kit in 1/350 yet?? I do like Revell's Bismarck and Tirpitz kits in that scale very much, and all I can see from Si's build looks really good - but that destroyer - though a very desired kit - looks pretty toy-like to me. But I have not been able to see any more than what is on the company's website. However - if even their 'advertising-pictures' aren't really convincing...hm...

Cheers,
Jan

While I was away North Star also sent me some bits for HMS New Zealand.
Searchlights and two and three bar railings.

And from Russia's ComBrig

It's a neat little kit.
