Nice one Dave,

These older light cruisers are certainly interesting ships.

Cheers.

Hi All,

Found this little gem on an Ebay Auction. A little hard to find but I needed to add some more light cruisers to the growing IJN fleet. I give you the IJN Light Cruiser Nagara,

The Heavy Cruisers Ashigara and Atago will be joining the fleet soon.

Michael,

I too have that wonderful kit in the stash and am anxiously awaiting the right time to crack it open. Flyhawk recently released a Gold Medal Edition PE Upgrade set. I will be making that part of my next order for the store.

Looking forward to watching you build her.

Dave

Hi Dave,
yes I have seen the Flyhawk set on their website but haven't seen it for sale. I am not sure I want to know the price given its contents. It will be hard to ignore.

cheers

Nice additions Guys,

Picked up my next build for Guadalcanal campaign, the etch for it, (eduard) some eduard etched German light AA, and the Pontos deck for the Admiral Hipper.

Something I've been after for a while but have been cheap about and only willing to spend so much for it. Finally, a baseball collector had one he wanted to get rid of on ebay so I got it for $21.00 US, shipping included. The first of what many consider the first true submarine - a boat designed to be faster under water than on the surface and be able to stay submerged for days at a time.

There's plenty of the cut-away version of the kit out there but I wanted the sealed hull version.

My 1/144 fleet of steel sharks is growing. ICM had announced an IXC a few years ago but no word on it yet.

I would love to go to something like Telford sometime but I think it would be hazardous to my bank balance. I wouldn't know where to stop. At the far side of the world it's nearly all on line so random purchases are rare but the poatman still finds his way here with the occasional goodie.

My IJN navy now stands at 3!

cheers

Nice Haul Luciano, and good to see you again.

I have stopped buying armour until I complete at least two of the armour kits I have in the loft.

Nice sub too Michael.

Cheers.

Still have sub fever- the Aurora-Monogram I-19 kit. The Nichimo kit just runs a little too much on ebay for what I'm willing to pay.

Thanks Michael,

That's what comes of saving a missed years funds.

Watch this space in two years, as I will not be able to go next year.

I will be blogging the Texas on this site. Still working on a revised build order with that lot added to the stash.

Cheers

Sounds like a ripper of a show, Si!

I somehow haven't been able to time our UK holidays to coincide with Telford yet-oneday though!

I have a similar pact-no more ships to be added to the stash unless it's the Rodney in 1/350 as per 1941. I do hope like Jan says that they release her in 1/350. Simply nowhere to put a 1/200... Aside from the fact the rest of the "home" fleet is 1/350.
Alternatively a RN flat top will be the other exception to the rule...

Meanwhile all these little red boxes keep appearing in the stash...

Hi Russ,

Well that was effectively the best part of my budget for two years. Had to pull out of going to the Telford Show last year about two weeks before the date due to work, with cash saved up, so just put it aside for this year.

No wingy thingies, I have set myself a task of not adding any more aircraft or armour to the stash until I have completed at least one build of each.

Mrs Duster was aware of the Nelson, because I told her I was buying it, and she knew how big the box was. The other stuff she was ok with, the only comment I got was "How soon will that lot be out of the lounge?" Currently it is sat in the workshop waiting to go up I to the loft.

Hi Dave,

Not cheap, but most of it was between 10-20% off, so it is worth taking plenty of cash.

Hi Jan,

It is a bit good. 1/350th would have been nice, and there is hope we might get them yet. would like a may '41 Rodney for the Bismarck Chase.

One the subject of big stuff there some of the test shots for the 1/200th Hood on display.... And you think the Nelson is Big! The didn't have Hull but there were some serious lumps of plastic.

Will of course blog the Nelson, but she is not due for Keel laying for a little while.

Met the Pontos guys they were really nice and friendly, had the Dreadnought on the club stand, which they were very interested in. They will be preparing a set for the Hood, and maybe scale it down for the 1/350th kit as well. (I think, there was a bit of a language barrier.

Cheers Guys.

Si,

I agree with dave, that'S quite some haul

NELSON with Pontos - that must be simply great!! Why can't they do it in 1/350??? I feel the temptation to go for the big one, but no, this would simply blow my dockyard capacity. It's honestly more a question of too big than too expensive...

Cheers,

Jan

Si,

that is an amazing haul that must have set you back a few pennies. I have pretty much stemmed my acquisitions for my personal stash so that I could increase inventory in the store. Might have to relook that decision though...LOL.

Wow Si!

That haul would blow my hobby budget out of the water for around 2 years! not to mention back up the dock yard for about 10years

Did you add any wing things to the stash along with these salty charmers?

How did SWMBO'd respond? I'd probably be in the dog house for a while and need to smuggle them into CASA E

PS. Looking forward to seeing the build logs on them

Just back from Scale model world at Telford, with some substantial additions to my stash.

Trumpeter 1/200 HMS Nelson and the Pontos upgrade set.

Tamiya 1/350 HMS Prince of Wales and the Pontos upgrade set.

Trumpeter 1/350th USS Texas and AJM 1/350th HMS Queen of Thanet (armed paddle steamer 1942 fit)

Eduard etch for Trumpeter 1/350th Admiral Hipper and Z25.

And a couple of books.

Really enjoyable weekend, met a few old friends, made a few new ones.

Cheers.

Very well done being a ship this large from plastic. Both carriers will be backdated. Also one will be waterline and the other full hull.

Luciano,

Very nice haul. I do in fact have that reference and you are correct, it is a great reference. It is my prime reference for back dating the Trumpeter kit to the 1942 confiurati.

I would be interested in your thoughts on the L'Arsenal kits that you received.

Looks like every one has been spending except me

Never mind I did get a few items from L'Arsenal only been on order for 6 months, two sets of twin 5" turrets and two sets of 20mm lockers and tubs, plus a very good reference book on my favourite US Battlewagon which I'm sure Dave already has.

First time posting on this thread. I received this yesterday.

Last week, Squadron had a flash sale and this went from $74.99 to $18.98?! With a shipping of $9.95 it was still a bargain! Bad news is, a BigBlueBoy photoetch set will cost around $88.00 so far..

Hi Joseph

An excellent purchase! I too have this kit in the stash. Have you considered the White Ensign Models Photo Etch ? It's only $29USD according to their website.

Hi Russell,

I think I will be going for the WEM option.

Thanks very much!

Joseph
