Hi All, Following the post of my partner Sebastian, from IPMS Uruguay, I want to share my proyect : King Tiger Porsche - 3./s.Pz.Abt. 503, Anneliese. As come with the zimmerit and I don't want to add more photoetched parts than the kit ones, Its an easy build  The actual vehicle (pics for discussion only). Note the jerrycan instead of the wood block. How they hold it?.   The Wheels -   The chassis  Dry fit test    Gluying the turret ring  Slant mold 3 pieces cannon tip and aluminium.   Rear hull - Maybe need some scarving for better fit?  The turret and cupolas, two of them, one with and without small details   Hope you like it, and please send me some tips and tricks ! Hi Alvaro,
I like the post, but I need to see advances on the kitty. I know what a nice work you did on the t34, so on this one, there is no doubt it will be a "contest winner".
About the fuel can on the back, did you noted is doesn´t have a ring to hang it, it is supported form the buttom as far I can see, probably a field modification
Did you noted also the spare track between the exhausts?, nice detail to do

One step ahead, carving the zimmerit, add some plates and details in the turret. Few pics, due to low batt charge - take 15 hours to 100% !    Dry fit    2nd. "Production" King Tigers have near the rear corner, a hose to manage the spills or fuel fumes. The early ones, did have them too?. On wich side?, pics?. TIA |

Thanks to the previous post, I can do some homework. Using very low speed, later dental tools to re-shape it.  Preparing the photoetched parts, the rounded grills, are specially fine. Handled with care  Note the damage - using my fingers! . Looks real !  Mg. A lot of pieces, unnecessary to me, as I close all hatches!  Hope you like it! Cheers |

6.3.2.20 Kraftstoffanlage (Fuel System)
By October 1944, the number of fuel line connections was decreased by about half to decrease fuel leaks in the engine compartment. The reduced number of interconnections between fuel tanks necessitated the addition of three vent lines to ventilate all seven fuel tanks.

a thing about the ventlines, they weren't added for spills or fumes, but to allow air to run out of the tanks during re-fueling. Also, during driving, they prevented underpressure in the tanks that would hamper the fuel-feed to the engine. Fuel actually cannot enter the ventlines, as during refueling, it would overflow in the filler. The ventlines are above the filler access, and as Archimedes showed, liquids will stay at the same level when 2 openings exist.
And about the Zimmerit, DML should've thought it a little bit further through, as areas really need to be cleared of Zimmerit like under the exhaustcovers, in order to allow them to sit realistic. |

Yrq_ekb nice pics After trying to do the hole with the Tamiya pin vice, I recall the drill  Now I working in the turret, and late in the week move again to the aft body. Any tips for removing or scarving the zimm are welcome?. I choose 0.45 mm wire for detailing the handles, thin/fat? Cheers  |

Checking references with another partner - IPMS Uruguay, he found a JagdTiger pic, the one with the roof blow out, and one American Soldier in front of it, with 2 pairs of handles in the front hatches  Q: This feature are show in Jadg's, or Porsche and Henschell have them?. If not in use, the holes must be filled in?.  |

Alvaro, I really appreciate you beginning this thread. I'm building Dragon's '39-'45 Series Sd.Kfz. 182 King Tiger (Porsche Turret), # 6189 utilizing Cavalier's zimmerit. You've brought up some questions/issues that I've not thought about (nor some of the folks that have been helping me out). I'm also appreciating yrq_ekb's input (among others). Here's a picture of where mine is right now:  Needless to say, I've "subscribed" to your thread and will be looking forward to following along. Mike, Thanks for your words. Your model looks great too!, in the past I have the Tamiya one, but I sell it, as I don't like to do the zim. So, when Dragon come to rescue, I buy it!. I "envy" your tracks!, here in the far south, kits and aftermarket are very expensive, so this kind of details aren't possible. We have 60% tax over price + shipping, so imagine.... Please, post your progress!. I was a bit slow as in sept. 26/27 we have our "Nationals", and I finish a base for my T-34, anyway, this week end I planning to add the wires, etc. Regards, |

alvaro if buying from foreign online shops isnt possible, try ebay, but of course that comes with its burdens. try the Buy sell or trade forum here, it will sure give you a more reasonable price to pay. both of the tigers looks great. mike great job in the tracks, ive seen how people assemble them and they look very tedious looks like it took alot of work. alvaro i like how you've paid attention to the little details. |

Mike, Post here when you want, all are welcome. Jim, I share your comment, to me the forums are the perfect way to share tips, tech and tricks to improve our modelling skills and models. Calvin, the problem here its that all the packages pass trough customs, and they "need" to extend a bill. The 60% tax applies to all packages or mail if the guy think that you're importing something. Only books, Dvd and Cd's aren't tax. Thanks for your words guys |
