Exellent finish to this one Joe, i watched the figures coming together over on PF and you have done a first class job, my favourite figure is the guy with the rock, he really adds to the scene in a big way. Steve |

Wow! Stunning. I would have never thought the drab colors of blue and grey could be so vibrant. A fantastic action dio which has action on all corners and the figures are beautifully painted. Going to send a link to my brother who is a fan of the era. |

Johnathon, Thanks for the kind words. I am more proud of the fact that I actually got it done! I have had these big ideas but that was all they ever became so to get this one done I am very happy and now motivated to try a few others. Joe |

Joe,
This came together really well. You must be rightfully proud. Everything just looks "right." The composition, the poses, the sculpting, the expressions, the emotion, the colours, the groundwork, the discarded gear, etc, etc...
Great work! I look forward to your future projects.

You've done a fantastic job here, Joe. I'm very impressed. I have dozens of Shenandoah's Civil War figures that I've been wanting to put into a Pickett's Charge diorama for years. Mind if I ask a few questions?
1) Did you paint with oils or acrylics?
2) I know Shenandoah has a wide range of poses, but it looks like you've converted several of your figures. Can you explain some of the changes you've made?
3) Your flag is awesome. Is it made of lead foil? Is it hand painted? What did you use for paints?
4) Is your stone wall a commercial product or did you scratch build it?
Thanks for sharng Joe. I'm hanging on to these for inspiration!

Hey Brian here are the answers to your questions. I use acrylics to paint but will add some oil glazes over the finished piece. The flag was a Shenandoah one but i ripped it up and painted it with acrylics, using both brush and airbrush. The stone wall is part orginial and part stock from Armand Bayardi. Now for the figures...They are all scratchbuilt but with modified heads. I did use 2 arms from Shenandoah but modified them. I hope this helps and here are some pictures of the figures prior to the finished piece. Joe |

Amazing amazing amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! really great work excellent figure poses and brilliant painting, i also like the fact that you have several pieces of action going on from the soldiers charging to the men dead dying and wounded to the two fighting hand to hand and the officer rallying the troops it really is a great snapshot of a battle. excellent work cheers Simon |
