sorry for the delay but painting all the small deck structures was a tedious work and took me a lot time. I also discovered that These GUNZE colors are super for airbrushing but not so super for brush work as they are relatively thin and drying very fast even with their retarder. So I did have to paint some structures two times to get a plain surface. These are the results of my last two weeks evenings:
The ships bow superstructures painted in Maizuru gray
At the middle section you see there is a huge gap were the aft upper deck meets the middle part deck of the ship. After I glueing it I will insert an Evergreen strip and paint it that the gap should not be visible anymore hopefully
The aft section. I gave the upper deck a careful wash already.
Nearby I did finished a few small parts which needs to be painted later. The searchlights are from Northstarmodels. They are of much nicer detail than those ones of the kit.
This is the superstructure for the two triple flak guns between the 2nd and 3rd funnel. Aoshima´s superstructure in the kit is here completely wrong one but fortunately Flyhawk´s etched replacement have the right shape according to my plans. You need to have skilled fingers here...
This is the superstructure between the 1st and the 2nd funnel and Aoshima´s part is also wrong shaped here.
During building the two superstructures I had a burning desire to finish one of those triple flak guns. BIGBLUEBOY´s premium set is here very nice with its tiny turned barrels but also demanding to build because of its diminutive size and 10 parts for a complete triple gun. This one is clearly at the edge of my abilities - I had partially Problems to fix the parts despite my micro tweezers and magnifier lens. And I will need 11 of them altogether
Just for fun I compared the etched gun with the kit´s two part plastic one - what a difference eh? Don´t make a mistake now and tell me the wrong one which is nicer
Thats it for today
