Thanks for the comments Gents. OK the Hull and Flight Deck are now together. All the moulded Detail on the F/D was sanded off for the Pontos Deck which fir superbly. Do not like the look of the Sanding to come. Tamiya's moulding is lovely but with all the Sanding to make her better than decent is not what I wanted. More to come soon.....Cheers mark

Mark,

I know what you mean. Finished upgrading the hull and then the F/D on my IJN Musashi six months ago and I haven't touch the ship since.

Nice progress, that F/D will look awesome when it's finish.

Mark,

The PE de-Gaussing cable does look much better then the molded cable. Your photo doesn't show it, but did you scratch build the shield where the cable enters and leaves the hull I believe on the portside?

Thanks for the comments Gents. Mark the Degaussing Cable is an aftermarket Item and the Hull is moulded without one on the newer Kit. The Shield the Cable enters is a Kit Part that Glues to the Hull Side. Hopes this helps....Cheers Mark

Hi Mark,

great start to a very interesting ship and kit - I have been following silently and infrequently so far, but be assured I'll be watching and with very high interest!

This is the first time I see the new Tamiya kit build - as was remarked before, quite interesting approach to the hull. But great work so far, looks really good!

Cheers,
Jan

After a Hiatus thanks to work and life in general I am back at it. The Hull has been preshaded and mist coated to allow the under lying Colours to come through. She has been gloss coated and is now awaiting the Weathering to come. More soon.....Cheers mark

Mark,

Interesting technique,I don't think I seen a hull pre-shaded before with black paint. Are you going to prime and pre-shade the superstructure and deck parts also with black or use red?

Mark,

great work indeed - the deck looks spot on, and I admire your really cool looking weathering on the hull, that really gives depth to the model. Great work!

Really nice work on the pre-shading for the hull. It looks superb and gives that well used look. Wooden deck also looking the business. Will you do anything to that?

cheers
Michael
