This is my finished model of the Italeri M.A.S Boat. The original build thread can be located here.
1:35 scale is my favorite scale for modeling. Ever since ITALERI released their 1:35 scale boat series I've enjoyed building them.
One of my my latest build..is the M.A.S. 563 Italian Torpedo Boat. The boat has an unusual staggered bottom hull and has detailed wooden deck, although wasn't visible once painted.
The construction is reasonable straight forward and I made some refinements on some parts. Lots of sanding on the railings and other chunky parts. I scratch-build additional stuff like life-vest, the long pole.and spent shells casings which took me weeks to get finished. The rigging and extra ropes to fill the deck were also additional items. Tthe figures are the basic Italeir Crew set that is available separately from the kit. My son did the printed flag.
The finish was basic on the reference booklet and illustration on the instruction sheet. The hull was divided in three section and I emphasized it by scribbling the recessed panel on either sides of the hull and then adding soot to distinguished each section.
It was fun to build and a never ending learnin experience, discovering new techniques and stuff about ship building.
