"This MSW Book review is of the third edition of "U-boot im Focus", the first regularly published U-boat magazine from Luftfahrtverlag-Start, Germany."
This is the third edition of this very unique publication, and also my third opportunity to give a report on such, and as before, Luftfahrtverlag-Start has given the U-boat enthusiast yet another fantastic resource for research information and images.
U-Boot Im Focus is a regularly published book in a softback style format, that is soley dedicated to the German U-boat. What makes the publication even more special, is that most of the images and information contained in each issue have never before been published, so each issue is unique to it's own, and quite a valuabe resource all around.
The format of the publication is large, 8 1/2" X 11 3/4", with heavy index covers, and heavy weight, high quality art-paper pages within. This issue is chock full of many black and white as well as color images and illustrations of the U-boat, it's inhabitants, and U-boat life, along with intelligent, pertinent, supporting text in both German and English. This edition has a total of fifty-two pages in all (including front and back cover).
The first two editions of this publication has proved themselves many time over from personal experiences for my own reference, as well as from other modelers, and I'm sure that this one will slip nicely in with the others! A very valuable point of reference for not only the modeler, but also the historian, researcher, or U-boat enthusiast will benefit from these editions.

After years of counting rivets, I put away the calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers and now just ha...
Hi all,
I have recently received my copy of Uif 3 and I must say that the Uif team are to be congratulated for having maintained if not exceeded the very high standard that this publication set with the previous 2 copies, I recommend that anyone who has an interest in German U-Boots of WWII gets a copy.
