ATF Fleet Tug, Battlefleet Models

  • DSC06294
Peter Fulgoney shares with us images of his latest build, Battlefleet Models new ATF Fleet Tug, in 1/700 scale resin.

As part of the Battle of the Atlantic diorama, I elected to include the Battle Fleet Models ATF tug as part of the escorts contingency. The configuration of this little craft is quite distinct with its amidships mounted crane being a main feature of the build.

Very helpful as well is the colouring instructions showing measure 32 for both sides of the ship, and this turns out to be a very dramatic, and viewable scheme which makes the ship a strong subject for the resin model builder.

As soon as these elements were completed in the modelling process, the composition really came to life, and everything else was a bonus.

What took all the heartache out of the research was Mike McCabe’s build of the same kit. A lot of questions were answered in his build along on the BFM site, and also the Navsource website mentioned in the instructions proved to be a great companion for the researcher.

The good thing about this kit is that there are many versions, old and new, and also a number of ships which joined other navies, so buy one, and have fun.

Great subject BFM!

Yes, Rui, I am very proud to have had Peter Fulgoney, build the first and everyone of my kits since. He has done a very nice job of showing the modeler what can be done with the average resin kit. By adding details and placing it on an ocean base or harbour, and making it a thing of beauty. Well, done Peter H.

Hi Luciano, Rui, I believe Peter told me it was the HMS Milne.
