MSW's Community Build Contest

"Announcing the Model Shipwrights Community Build Contest, our first year long, online model building competition to build any armed ship from the ironclad age to the present, in any scale!"

This new contest at MSW has been developed with our model community here in mind, helping it to develop and grow, and what better way to grow a ship modeling website than to build ship models together?

To make things even more interesting, we're offering some banner prizes for the jack-pot winners, although in the end, we'll all be winners with developing new friendships, and sharing the camaraderie of our hobby.

The contest will be divided up into two seperate competition sections, OOB (out of the box) and Full Build, respectively.

OOB Category Rules of Engagement
(i) All scales permitted.
(ii) Ship Model must have a plastic injection hull.
(iii) Ship Models that have inherent PE or turned barrels or any other multimedia parts are not allowed.
(iv) No rigging allowed.
(v) Ships may be placed on pedestals if the pedestals are part of the model. Completed waterline models may be photographed on a plain wooden base or on cardboard paper. No water effects allowed.
(vi) Aftermarket/alternate decals may be used.
(vii) The modeler will start a build blog on MSW (in the "Fleet Maneuvers" group build forum) at the start of the contest to display the progress of the build. At the end of each month, the builder must have between 5 to 10 photos which the staff will use to judge the entries.
(viii) First photo of the build blog must be of the model parts, still on their sprues and next to your selection of local newsprint, with the date fully visible… this is to ensure that no one starts with an advantage.
Note- Individual ship models only, no diorama's allowed.
Most Importantly, Have Fun!

Each MSW staff member will be allowed to award a single gold, silver and bronze award per monthly voting session. Judges can base their votes on quality of build and progression of build. Historical accuracy will not be taken into account in this contest.

At the end of the contest, one final vote will take place within the staff, to be added to the monthly votes to determine the winner. This final vote will be worth 10-5-3 votes.
