Shipwrights Staffers Build Contest

  • MSW_Staffers_contest
Ahoy MSW Shipmates! Running in parallel time with our "MSW Community Build Contest", we now announce the "Shipwrights Staffers Build Contest"!

Keeping in continuance with our new, "MSW Community Build Contest" we will also be running a similar build contest between all of our MSW staff! The contest will have the same basic set of rules and regulations, with one small twist....this contest will be judged by YOU, the members only club of MSW!

The contest will be divided up into two seperate competition sections, OOB (out of the box) and Full Build, respectively.

OOB Category Rules of Engagement
(i) All scales permitted.
(ii) Ship Model must have a plastic injection hull.
(iii) Ship Models that have inherent PE or turned barrels or any other multimedia parts are not allowed.
(iv) No rigging allowed.
(v) Ships may be placed on pedestals if the pedestals are part of the model. Completed waterline models may be photographed on a plain wooden base or on cardboard paper. No water effects allowed.
(vi) Aftermarket/alternate decals may be used.
(vii) The modeler will start a build blog on MSW at the start of the contest to display the progress of the build.
(viii) First photo of the build blog must be of the model parts, still on their sprues and next to your selection of local newsprint, with the date fully visible… this is to ensure that no one starts with an advantage.
Note- Individual ship models only, no diorama's allowed.
Most Importantly, Have Fun!

I have been building models of all sorts all of my life, concentrating mainly on the coolest one's when I was younger, but now I focus directly on all military subjects, from armor to warships. Well, I canceled my Dragon on line order. and ordered the Trumpteter USS England, and Tom's photo etched set. This should be an interesting adventure, as for me it's micro modeling. The last time I tried one of these tiny ships, one cough, and my photo etched set looked like it got hit with a 5 inch shell, and the kit got the deep six.

Well I have been very quiet, but now I know what it will be (yes, it arrived in the mail today!!!) It's the Niko Models 1/700 USS Texas ~1895 And it will be a Full Built (just because the models brings a very nice PE set). Another strange coloured ship in the cabinet Rui

I've got the kit, air wing, photo etch, teeny tiny resin sandbags and Gator's Akagi flight deck masks ready to go. I think I'm ready. Oh yeah, batteries in the camera. Gator

My USS England, and photo etched set arrived today. Waiting for the barrels from Harry to arrive. All I can say is Dam, these parts are small! Unfortunately, from 6/1 to 6/13 I will be working 12 hour shifts, so time will probably be limited.

Great news, Dave! Remember mate, we have a full year to complete the build, plenty of time!
MAY 30, 2008 - 01:50 PM
And I'm happy to report that my barrels from Harry were in the mailbox last night on the way to work, which is totally outstanding service. Now I have a strange felling that I'll surely need to double up on the lens power, and shaking meds. I hope I remember to pick up tomorrows paper!
