"New MSW Crew-mate Somboon Vongveeranonchai (eddiev200) sends us his first submission, an impressive duo build in multi-scale in this MSW "On Display" Feature!"
ORP Orzel (Kilo Class) Polish Navy, 1/400 scale vs.1/700 scale
The second "Kilo" model kit is from Maquette, in 1/400 scale, comprising of 10 individual pieces. Yes,10 pieces, however it doesn't mean that it's a quick build! There was 2 major problems with the build, first is an upper / lower half assembly, and second is tail - fin assembly. There was quite a bit of filler needed for this area. Also, there is a huge gap at the tail - fin section, where much filler and sanding was needed to get a decent profile, and every piece is very flashy.
I think it's a tough model kit, hard to build. I don't know if there is any other alternative to this kit in 1/400, but if there is, then perhaps it would be a better choice!

vessel details
The ORP Orzel is a submarine of Polish Navy. There were 3 ORP Orzel in the Polish Navy since 1939 - 2008, all of them submarines. This is the third ORP Orzel submarine to bear this name. The boat was built by Sudomekh Shipyard in Leningrad. She was commissioned on April 29,1986 and still serves in the Polish Navy to date.the models...
This is the "Kilo" class submarine model kits from Maquette (1/400) and Hobbyboss (1/700). Hobbyboss kit quality always surprises me, being an excellent value for the money, and the finished subject very cute when finished! Easy to build, and personally, I hope that the up-coming submarines from Hobbyboss are at least as good as this one!The second "Kilo" model kit is from Maquette, in 1/400 scale, comprising of 10 individual pieces. Hi Somboon
A very good presentation of two different scale Kilo submarines!
I am also a big fan of HobbyBoss subs - definitely an excellent ratio price/quality/subject
Please keep us posted of your future projects
