"Mike Taylor (modelguy2) shares his build of MIG productions 1/72 scale, Bronekater, in this MSW "On Display" Feature!"

The Soviet BK1125 Bronekater armored ship was used widely between 1939 and 1945 on the entire European front in all major rivers from Austria to Stalingrad. This armored ship was used like a floating river tank. In fact, BRONEKATER (BK) means armored ship. The Soviet BK1125 Bronekater was specifically designed to carry a number of different turret types. These different turrets primarily included the same ones used on the T-34/76 and T-28 battle tanks. The typical tank factories in Russia at the time produced the same turrets for both tanks and ships.

The soviets used the BK1125 Bronekater armored ship in frontal attacks against other land tanks and enemy infantry. The BK1125 Bronekater could also be armed with the potent Katiusha rockets. The Katiusha rockets used in conjunction with the T-34 turrets caused terrific effects. Bronekater ships were also used for carpet bombing against fortifications and cities. Viene in Austria were bombed by Bronekaters. The Soviet BK1125 Bronekater had a crew of ten navel sailors. The Soviet Bronekaters were transported by rail from one river to another. They were specially designed to be carried on wagon trains through tunnels and over bridges.

I like the unusual colors, even for a riverine boat and the muddy waters! Thanks for sharing it, Mike Rui

Nice work! I posted some new photos of the 1/25 version Steve Neill is finishing this weekend. His is designed for RC with plenty of room to customize with working turrets. https://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/forums/121113&page=1 What part of Ohio are you living? I grew up just across the river on the WV side just south of Wheeling. Chuck
