"MSW Crew-mate Andrew Ayling (jester_ara) shares his fine build of Tamiya Models, HMS King George V, in this MSW "On Display" Feature!"
Base Kit- Tamiya Models, 1/350 scale, HMS King George V Battleship WW2 ( kit #78010)
This is Tamiya's 1/350 KGV built without any major modifications, just a few detail sets and some basic scratchbuilding. I'm planning a fully tricked out build of the Duke of York in her 1943 fit and thought I'd build the KGV as a dry run.
The brass work is the WEM set, as are the pompom mounts. 20mm and 40mm are from L'Arsenal. Other details are limited to a few extra hatches, companionways and bulkhead details. As usual, paints are WEM Colourcoats with oils for weathering.
Edit. note: looking forward to that tricked out Duke of York!

Nice work on the KGV, looks ready for some action there. If that isn't pretty trick, I can hardly wait to see the Duke of York when you get there.

Beautiful model. Nice touch with the world map in the pic's back ground. Congrats on a fine model.

I must say, that is a very inspirational build to me. I am working on my first ship model in many years, a 1:350 Destroyer and the weathered finish on this one is very close to what I had in mind.
Thank you for posting this...

A very nice build, I have to say...
I have the KGV in progress myself, although porgress has been halted, and will remain so (or at best very slow) for a while... other projects, and work and study have priority at the moment....
But again, congratulations on a beatuful model, and looking forward to the Duke of York!
