"MSW crew-mate Somboon Vongveeranonchai (eddiev200) sends us an interesting submarine duo build, in this MSW "On Display" Feature!"
Base Kit- DML's "Soviet Typhoon vs. USS Dallas" Kit, #7001 (OOP)
Scale-1/700
The Soviet Typhoon and USS Dallas SSN-700 were both famous boats. You have seen them both from the great movie "The Hunt for Red October".
This kit was nice when completed, but there was a lot of work involved in getting there!
The kit is plastic injection, molded in grey plastic and I build it straight out of the box.
The kit was hard to find, and equally hard to construct. Overall, it looks like DML did a nice job on this kit, but like I said it just "looks like". The fit of the hull halves is very poor, like the other submarines in this series. You have much filling and sanding to do, but a "must have" for every submarine enthusiast!

Hi Somboon!
Having these buggers in the stash, and from what I know from these early DML 1/700 submarines, you have tackled the difficulties very well! The hull halves are perfect (the main flaws of these models) and you also managed to get a very convincing paint scheme for the Typhoon - one of the best I have seen!
The Dallas is a more common sight on sub builds, but it's also good (although I would like to hear Tom Hathaway, giving his specialized and knowledgeable input on this particular subject)
Congratulations and keep up
Thanks for sharing Mark!

very nicely done! i like them together, you get WOW "size" difference effect... I have the Typhoon in 350 which I know has a lot of accuracy issues... could you share your paint scheme? Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing, cheers
