"MSW Crew-mate Jim C. Smith sends us this next submission, a dandy batch of images of his build, 'Sagara Maru', in this "On Display" feature!



Base Kit-Pit Road models 1/700 full resin kit

vessel history
Built by Mitsubishi, Nagasaki, completed 1940; taken over for naval service as a seaplane carrier in 1941. Became a transport in 1942. Damaged by US submarine Harder 22 June 1943 and beached to prevent sinking; stricken and presumably scrapped postwar.

Displacement: 7, 189-tons.
Dimensions: Length 479', beam 62', draft 32' td
Propulsion: 2 Mitsubishi-Sulzer diesels, 2 shaft, 16, 0600 shp.
Armament: 2 x 5.9-inch, 2 x 13mm MG
Conversion: Aft well deck fitted with two 56' catapults, cranes fitted to recover aircraft.
Aircraft: 8 Type 95 Kawanishi E8N “Dave” 2 seat reconnaissance float biplanes, 4 Type 0 Aichi E13A1 "Jakes

Great looking diorama Jim, always did like floatie wingee things and to have them and a ship in the same scene pretty well covers it all for me.
