Program 5 “Zippo”

"Third in a series of "Brownwater Navy" builds, crew-mate Rick Bellanger (RickBellanger) shares a full build of his Program 5 “Zippo” from Masterpiece Models!"

the vessel...
The original "Zippo" was a converted LCM-6 WWII landing craft. The vessel was modified with bar armor trigger plate (as was most MRF vessels also had this mod). The bar armor caused pre-mature detonation of the enemy's rocket or warheads, and also reduced the penetration rate of other existing armor on the vessel as well.

Pontoons were added along the hull to compensate for the added weight of the extra armor and equipment, which included most importantly, the addition of two Army flame-thrower turrets, which aided troop activity by burning the vegetation alongside riverbanks and waterways. This action prvented any enemy ambush to be set up at the waters edge, and also, the flame-thrower units proved extremely effective against any opposition that was within it's reach...

the model...
Masterpiece Models, 1/35th scale, Program 5 “Zippo”. All resin kit. Added armor around the flame turrets, M-60 machine guns on the M 48 Turrets, added 2 50 cal machine guns with shields between the M 48 Turrets and the tarp made from a handkerchief soaked in white glue.
