"New MSW crew-mate Larry G. Hamilton (lghmltn) shares his first submission with us, a beautiful build of the Fletcher Class Destroyer, U.S.S. La Vallette, in this "On Display" Feature!"

Model Kit Used- Revell kit number 05901 - US Navy “Fletcher Class” Destroyer, scale 1/144.

My model shows the early World War II U.S.S. La Vallette as she appeared on 8 October 1942. The La Vallette is painted in camouflage measure 22.

I modified the superb Revell 1:144 Fletcher Class Destroyer kit with Nautilus photo-etch sets, their whaleboats, turrets, and stern tub resin castings. I used 8 pound test fishing leader for the rigging and railing.

Having finally acquired one of these kits, I am glad to see such a faithful depiction of the model in its finished form. Larry did a marvelous job in capturing the lines of a Fletcher with this quality kit. --Karl

Dade, thanks you for our comments. The railings were made up from Nautilus photoetch parts. The first two lines are actually part of the brass netting. The top line is 8 pound test fishing leader threaded through the top of the Nautilus stanchions. Larry Hamilton

I've often wondered how good something this large would actually look, and you've done a wonderful job of it, I like the clean crisp appearence the rigging and just about everything else, and while not wishing to upset the apple cart, it really is crying out for a crew, 1-144 not the best in the world for figures, but I am sure there's people out there that could point you in the right driection.
