"MSW Crew-mate Alec Cap (bigal07) shares one of his latest diorama scenes with us, this time, we have HMS Echo, in this "On Display" feature!"

This is my interpretation of an E class British destroyer being pushed against the harbor wall of a fuel depot during 1942.

The ship is 1/700 scale by Tamiya, the buildings are from varied makes, including a couple of wooden buttons for fuel tanks, the land is made from MDF and the sea effect from gel, the white rigging was me not thinking straight, as it should have been either black or black/silver (gun-metal).

Apparently the Union Jack would have never appeared on the back of the ship during port, also all weapons would have pointed in a very straight line. All comments, both good and bad would be most welcome.

Very nice to see the dockyard scenes, and this helps the modelling skills to an even higher level. Also it's interesting to witness your "journey", Alec as you progress from build to build, I like the way you have drawn this scene up on the diagonal as well it gives it a more dynamic look. Great work. Peter F

A very nice build Alec, I haven't plucked up enough courage to try a waterline build or a dockside model. Adds a sense of size and scale. Your resin "water" is spot on and I love the little tug manhandeling the ship alongside the dock. cheers, Julian

I like your color choices, for the dock items, water etc. Everything has a gritty/grimy look like what you would expect to see in real life. Using household items for structures is also cool.

Looks great Alec, the positioning of the vessel, the colours & the dynamic really works. If I may make a suggestion, some 1/700th figures would really bring it to life, not many a few on the bridge, fo'c'sle & poop of the Echo, a couple on the tug & a couple on the dockside. Just a thought Si
