"Crew-mate Dr. Al Ross shares his master build of pre-dreadnought battleship, USS Maine, in this MSW Feature!"
This kit of MAINE was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of BlueJacket Shipcrafters, and was limited to 100 kits.
Like the OLYMPIA which followed it, it is in 1/128 scale and is structured the same way. This was the display model and is now owned by the Naval War College in RI.
The first few photos are in-progress shots, while the rest are of the model as completed. Just after finishing it, I discovered that during her last yard period in late 1897, her bottom was painted McGinnis Green, an experimental anti-fouling coating. Subsequently, I repainted the bottom a dark green and that is how it looks today.

I really have no idea, as I don't pay any attention to the time. I do this for a living, so I work on a number of models at the same time.

A beautiful execution on the Bluejacket kit. Those deck edge stanchions look like they were a project in their own right.
